Selection of Dental Implants: What Problems Will Dental Implants Face

One of the main problems of dental implants is the cost associated with them. To help you make a wise decision that best suits your oral health, it's important to understand that many people have other choices when they may use dental implants... options that may be cheaper and more suitable for your specific situation.

Treatment of gingival diseases:
If your gums recede and bone loss occurs around your teeth, this does not mean that you will lose your teeth and need to replace them. For gingival disease treatment, your dentist or periodontist can take three inexpensive procedures to reduce your chances of needing implants.

Gingival transplantation:
In the process, gingival tissue is taken from your upper jaw or other sources and used to cover the exposed root of one or more teeth. Covering exposed roots helps reduce sensitivity and protect your roots from decay while preventing further gingival recession and bone loss.

Gingival reduction:
This includes folding back the gingival tissue around the infected teeth so that your dentist or periodontist can remove infectious bacteria and smooth the damaged bone area so that the gingival tissue can attach to healthy bones.

Regeneration process:
In this type of treatment, your dentist or periodontal patient will eliminate bacteria and then place natural or synthetic bones with tissue stimulator proteins to help your body regenerate bones and tissues effectively.

Root canal therapy:
Although dental implants are used to replace teeth, root canals can save your existing teeth if your teeth have almost no residual structure. Like gum disease, it actually depends on how serious your infection is (because in some cases, the infection has damaged the teeth to the point where they can't be preserved). Your natural teeth are the best choice for the best oral health. If you use root canal therapy instead of dental implants, your dentist will remove infected or inflamed pulps from your teeth and restore them with crowns. You keep a natural smile. After proper care, teeth that have undergone root canals can last a lifetime.

Dental bridge:
If you can't save your teeth through gingival disease treatment or root canal therapy, you can usually get a bridge with the same function. Using a bridge, the replacement teeth are supported by crowns on the teeth next to the teeth. The bridge is fixed, which means that it will not loosen or slide out. You can maintain your existing diet, which can look as good as dental implants.

Bridges have three alternatives to dental implants:

A fixed bridge supported by teeth:
Use healthy adjacent teeth to connect and support bridges.

Removable partial/complete dentures:
This kind of denture is located at the top of the gingiva, the teeth are missing and need to be removed to clean the teeth.

Resin bonded bridge:
Also known as the Maryland Bridge, it replaces your front teeth and attaches them to healthy adjacent teeth with wings on each side.
